In another 6 hrs..We will be racing the nite.. hopefully beating the sunrise.. Dunno y this is the feeling i get now.. worry worry + worry.. though i dun write it on my face.. =ZAnyway.. Jiayou jiayou jiayou! Ale ppl! We can do it de.. Sometimes ppl find some solace and courage too.. when they know there are ppl doing the same crazi things as they do.. and we are cheering each other on.. The old man and his shoeOne day, an old man boarded a bus. As he was moving up the stairs, 1 of his shoes slipped off. The door closed and the bus moved off so he couldn't retrieve it. He calmly took off another shoe on his foot and threw it out of the window. A young man, puzzled by the old man's action, asked, "Why did you do that?" And the old man replied,"So that whoever finds them will be able to use them."The old man understood the fundamental philosophy of life - do not hold on to something simply for the sake of possessing it or because you do not wish others to have it. We tend to lose things all the time. And these lost may seem to us grievious or unjust initially. But we must always remember that lost occurs so that positive changes can occur in our lives. We should not always assume that losing sth is bad, because if things never shift, we will never become a better person or experienced better things. In order for us to mature emotionally and spiritually, and for us to contribute to the world, lost and gain is neccessary. Like the old man in the story, we have to learn to let go. The world has decided that it was time for the old man to lose his shoe. Maybe this happened to add momentum to a series of events leading to a better pair of shoes for the old man. Maybe the world decided that some1 else needed the shoes more than the old man himself.
Whatever the reason may be, we can't avoid losing things. The old man understood this. One of his shoe had gone out of his reach, another one wouldn't have been much of a use to him. But it may be a cherished gift to a homeless person desperately in the need of protection from the ground.
Hoarding possessions doesn't make us or the world a better place. We all have to decide constantly if somethings or people have run their course in our lives or will be better off with others. We then have to muster the courage to give them away.
